Checklist While Peer-Reviewing a Change Request in ServiceNow


Checklist (ServiceNow)

Below are some critical checkpoints that can help an approver make a decision on a Change Request. ServiceNow is the application used in this process.


Short Description

Short Description should be brief, and precise, and convey to the approver or higher management an idea of what is being implemented or executed without digging into the depth of the Change Request.


Change Description

Change Description should include details about the changes.


Change Type and category

Should be clearly mentioned if it is Normal, Expedited, Emergency, or Standard. Be prepared to furnish details if higher management or the Change approval board has any questions.


Scheduled Time

Scheduled time should be either on weekends or Board approved weekdays.


DR Replication Plan

Make sure to implement the changes in all the related data centers. When not applicable select the appropriate option.


Does the Change Request Scheduled time and the Change Tasks time match?

Make sure the scheduled time in the change request matches those of the change tasks.


Are there any servers being impacted by this change?

List out all the servers directly or indirectly impacted.


Are these servers included in the affected Configuration Items list?

The above servers must be mentioned in the CI's list.


Planning Tab

Make sure to furnish all the details under the Planning Tab. Peer review the CR and also mention the Quality Assurance team who performed the testing or validation.


Validation Tab

The validation Tab must include all the needed validation details along with the names of the teams and their contact details, who are going to validate.


Risk Assessment

Fill out the Risk Assessment accordingly.


Attachments

Attach all the necessary documents to avoid any delays in the approvals.


Any Database related tasks?

If there are any Database-related tasks, make sure to attach the related SQLs and scripts to the change request.


Group approvals

Add all the groups with whom you will be working under the group approval Tab and contact them once the Change request is submitted.


Outages

Create outages based on the tasks and need.
