"Hey, why is the barrel moving?" A slim rubber-looking teenager came out, confused. "MEAT!" The dude screamed. "Give me all your valuables or else I’ll shoot you," "No," "What did you say to me!" He shot the kid and then. "WHAT THE Hell are you?!" The man yelled. The bullet reflected and the people’s faces filled with shock. The bullet reflected and then zoomed towards the gunman’s foot.
It was August 23, and this boy, as old as the rubber boy named Koby, was doing chores on a pirate ship. He ended up on this ship in an accident and had been trying to get his football when he kicked it onto this ship. When he went to retrieve the ball, the ship started sailing, and then he was stuck. One of the crew members mistakes him for another person who has the same hair color and then shouts, "GET BACK TO DOING chores!" as he points a gun at Koby. For a few years, he was stuck being a chore boy in this bad environment; he was a coward and scared of what would happen if he didn’t obey.
While cleaning one storage room, he saw a barrel swaying side to side. "What is that?" he said as he pushed the barrel. This skinny person came out. He was in a red button-down jacket and yellow shorts. He was also wearing a red and yellow straw hat. "Who are you? How did you fit in there?" The boy then extended his arm like a piece of gum. "WHAT!?" Koby was in shock. "My name is Luffy, Portugas D. Luffy." He had recognized that name from the king of the pirates. The name rang like a pair of church bells. "ARE YOU THE SON OF GOL D. Portugas!" "Hell yeah I am!"
Then Koby was blown away by how sudden everything happened. "NANI!" "I’m just shocked at what bullcrap you’re spitting at me." "Do you think I’m joking, dude?" Luffy responded with a straight face. "I was taken care of by Shanks, the legendary red pirate who has godly amounts of haki. This man sacrificed his left arm for me, SHOCKING RIGHT?!" Koby fainted from an information overload, and Luffy walked over to Koby and then kept slapping him constantly until he regained consciousness. His slaps felt like going back into reality.
Luffy was confused as to why he was on the floor looking shocked. "Yo, you there? Huh, that’s weird," Luffy chuckled. 15 minutes later Koby woke up and looked at Luffy munching on apples. "WHY ARE THERE SO MANY APPLE CORES ON THE FLOOR?! HOW MANY DID YOU EAT??" "I don’t know, maybe 40… 50, something like that," Luffy chuckled with a smile. Koby’s brain stopped working; he was in shock. Big-time shock. "Luffy what are you? You’re the son of Gol D. Portugas, you are a rubber boy, and you eat a crap ton of food?"
While Koby was learning about Luffy, a girl with orange hair and a blue and white striped shirt was stealing the valuables of the Alidva pirates. She was a mini-criminal who was not very powerful but very tricking and smart. She found this shiny vase that looked cool. "Ooh, this looks cool!" She pours the shiny vase and the over jewels into the big brown sack bag. "Woah so shiny!" A voice echoed from the distance. "WHO’S THERE!" She screamed.
There you could see Luffy, eating a stick of meat, laughing. He then looked at her confused. He then stretched his arm to her shoulder and she started freaking out. "WHAT ARE YOU!?!" "DID YOU EAT A DEVIL FRUIT!?" "I’m Portugas D. Luffy, the son of Gol D. Portugas. I ate the gum gum fruit and it gave me rubber powers!" She was shocked at what she just heard. "Wow that’s a lot to comprehend, I’m Nami, by the way. Are you a part of this pirate crew?" Nami questioned. "These scums? No way!" Luffy laughed.
Right then Koby tapped Luffy on the shoulder and pointed behind him. "AHHH WE GOT COMPANY, LUFFY HE’S GRABBING ME!" Koby was then snatched by one of the members. There was a swarm of pirates. "POW" Luffy then punched the guy with his Gum Gum pistol. "That’s my signature move!" Luffy spinned. Luffy then ran at the ocean waves of people. He started rapidly punching the swarm of people. "Gum Gum GATLING!"
Koby and Nami wowed at the strength of Luffy. "WOAH!" Their voices echoed through the hollow cabin. You could hear the beating that Luffy gave to those pirates. You could hear "OW!" "OOF!" "HELP ME!" Luffy laughed as he mercilessly beat these crooks. It was shocking how much damage he was doing to his size and muscle.
When Luffy was finally finished fighting these goons he walked upstairs and saw a big pirate. "You’re not Zoro, who are you," "Who's that?" Luffy asked. "A skilled swordsman," Koby whispered. "Oh sounds like a good team member. "Who is this fatty?" Everyone suddenly went into silence. "Why did you say that!?" Koby muttered. "You look like a giant donut," Luffy said as he chuckled. "Shut up!" Nami said as she slapped Luffy. "Why’d you do that, meanie." The big woman was steaming with rage and was running at Luffy. As she was running at Luffy, he stretched his arm behind him as fast as he could and punched the big woman.
"Aldiva NOO," One pirate screamed. Aldiva then was launched like a slingshot into the abyss. She flew like a cannonball being launched. It was a shocking sight to see. "WOAH HOW'D YOU DO THAT?" Koby wowed as he followed Aldiva’s body into the ocean with his eyes. Luffy grinned at Nami and Koby and asked "Will you join my pirate crew?" "Maybe temporarily, my dream is to be a marine and not a pirate," Koby responded. "I won’t join your crew, pirates are despicable people only known for bloodlust and being heartless criminals. "Why not? Do you think the son of the pirate king would murder people?" Luffy questioned.
"I agree that killing people is wrong and it’s not needed unless they are a big threat to society," Luffy said with a smile. Nami didn’t know what to say; she didn’t know if he was being genuine or lying like every other pirate. "I’ll join, for now at least," She grinned. Luffy then hopped on Nami’s boat with Koby and sailed. "What do you do, Nami?" Koby asked. "I steal things, This boat isn’t mine," Nami smiled. "How should we know to trust you?"
"Because I enjoy being around you guys," Nami responded. Later, as Luffy was fishing with Koby, he asked, "Hey Koby, why do you want to be a marine?" Koby replied, "It’s because I want to protect people who can’t protect themselves." "That's my motive," Koby said. "Woah, that's inspiring!" Nami overheard. "That’s boring," Luffy chuckled. Nami looked at Luffy and punched him in the back of his head. "OWW, WHAT WAS THAT FOR?" "You don’t call someone’s dream boring; that’s like saying cereal before milk," Luffy thought for a second and sighed. "Okay," Luffy said with disappointment.
"You’re funny, Luffy," Koby laughed. They all smiled and continued fishing. "Does anyone know how to cook? I have salt, pepper, and seasoning!" Luffy questioned. Koby then grabbed the stick used for skewing fish and said, "It’s some perks of being a chore boy," Koby laughed. As they were eating, Luffy brought up Zoro. "Where is he at?" "I don’t know, but I think he got caught and is in a cross in Shell Island," "Is that where we’re going to?" Luffy asked Nami. Nami, being a great navigator, replied, "Yes!" Joyfully, Luffy said, "We’re here!" Everyone smiled. As soon as they parked their boat, they started exploring the city.
"Woah, it’s so bright and cool," Koby exclaimed. "This isn’t even one of the coolest towns I’ve ever seen!" Nami expressed. "Yeah, my hometown was 100 times better than this," Luffy exclaimed. "Huh! Really?" Koby said in shock. "I’m kidding," Luffy smiled. While exploring the city, they asked people where they put Zoro. "Do you know where Pirate Hunter Zoro is?" The people were frightened to answer Luffy. The three were confused; why wouldn’t these people answer him, and why are they backing up?
They kept exploring the city while asking people where Zoro was. They got hungry and stumbled into a bar. They were chowing down on some food and saw a man with three swords, green hair, and wearing a green bandana. "Woah, he looks cool!" Luffy said as he approached him. Luffy walked beside him and asked, "Are you Zoro, the pirate hunter?" "Yeah, why?" "Do you want to join my crew?" Luffy said with a smile. "No, I’m a pirate hunter for a reason," Zoro eyed Luffy. Luffy didn’t know how to counter this argument, so he thought there for a second. "So, you could still join our crew," Luffy grinned.
Zoro then hesitated.
Who was this person, and why was he so casual with him? Suddenly, a group of marines came in and started walking over to the bar. The group then noticed Zoro and Luffy and pulled out their swords. "I’m not wasting my time on this!" They said in sync. Nami and Koby looked at them with a smile on their face. Zoro was meant to be on the Straw Hat crew. "Gum Gum Flash!" Luffy said as he punched the marine soldiers. "What the?" Zoro was confused. He’d never seen a kind of person like this. It surprised him a lot. "Bull Needles!" Zoro said as he charged at the soldiers. He took them out effortlessly.
"Wow, you’re not just all talk," Nami grinned. Zoro then took out the soldiers like he was taking out the trash. "DAMN! He’s just as good as Luffy!" Koby admired the bloodthirsty Zoro as he mercilessly took out the marines. "Seems like you could hold your own!" Luffy grinned happily. Then, as they completed the battle, Luffy asked, "Hey, now I know that you could do tha..." "I’m not joining your pretend pirate crew; I'm a pirate hunter for a reason." Suddenly, a big man with an ax came at Zoro and attempted to put him in handcuffs. "WATCH OUT!" Luffy yelled as he tried to warn Zoro. Zoro jerked to the side and stabbed the man.
The ax man then ran away out of fear. Luffy smiled and then said, "I’ll give you 5 days to think about this, got it?" "I don’t need your confirmation; I'll take as much time as I want. 5 days is enough time." "Ok. Now just get out of my face," Zoro sighed in defeat. Then, as Zoro left the bar, the ax man came in front of Zoro and hit his head, and Luffy could hear Zoro’s body thud. Luffy was in shock. He didn’t know what to do. Someone whom he wanted to make a friendship with just got knocked out and dragged out of the bar by a 7-foot tough-looking dude. "LUFFY, DO SOMETHING!" Nami screamed. "Luffy then tried to punch the axeman's hand to lose Zoro but failed."
Luffy was devastated; he didn’t know how to handle it. Being a pirate comes with downsides, but now this fast. Luffy then followed the axeman to the marine base and waited until he went away. He didn’t leave. Luffy said, "Screw this," and charged in. "Gum Gum Gatling!" Luffy then suddenly stopped. He saw the axeman drinking a cup of coffee as he was writing a message. "Huh, what do yOu WAnt!?" The axeman was drunk, really drunk; That was confusing to Luffy, and he punched him. He wouldn’t budge; he just stood like a statue. Luffy then proceeded to just stare. "Huh what, you're not gonna attack," Luffy was confused. "Shave!" He yelled as he appeared behind Luffy. Luffy quickly ducked and was surprised. He didn’t know that he would have these types of moves. He was using a Rokushiki move, an advanced marine tactic.
Luffy then started punching the axeman rapidly. "Shave!" "Shave!" "Shave!" Luffy couldn’t hit him. Not at all, then out of nowhere, he slashed Luffy’s arm. "AHH, WHAT THE HELL, MY ARM!" Nami heard the screaming from outside the base and screamed "LUFFY! ARE YOU OKAY? PLEASE RESPOND!" Koby was shocked. He’d never seen someone scream in that much agony. The axeman smiled. He said, "The ax has poison on it; you’re going to die if you don’t find the cure." He smiled. Koby then ran in, and Nami yelled, "NO KOBY NOT YOU TOO! DON'T GO IN, LET LUFFY HANDLE IT," Koby looked back and said, "It’s ok; I’ll be fine." Koby then ran into the base and started trying to find Luffy.
"KOBY, FIND A POISON CURE! I’M POISONED!" Koby was quick to react as he was searching every room for a poison antidote. He found it, fast. Luffy then grabbed it and drank it. He felt weird and didn’t eat that poison anymore. Then Nami yelled, "I GOT ZORO, RUN!" Then Koby and Luffy started booking it for Nami. "Shave!" He suddenly appeared in front of Luffy, and he tried blocking them, but Luffy used all his strength in one punch and knocked out the axeman. As they escaped, Nami found a nearby hostel they could stay in, and Nami went to treat Luffy and Zoro.
"Koby, could you get some rubbing alcohol, FAST!" Koby sprinted out of the room and went to the drugstore to get the rubbing alcohol. "Hey, do you have rubbing alcohol, I NEED IT QUICK!" The woman at the counter looked at him funny and gave Koby what he needed. Then Koby rushed back and gave Nami the medicine. She put it on Luffy and Zoro, then put bandages to numb the pain. That did the job because in the morning, Luffy woke up, feeling still a little injured, but it was getting better. "Hahaha, I’m alive!" Nami then slapped him in the face. "Of course, you are, stupid," She smiled. Then a few hours later, Zoro woke up, tired and confused. "Why the hell are you here!?" "Where am I!?"
"Calm down; we saved you from this axeman. I got poisoned, but I'm fine now," Luffy smiled. Zoro was in shock. This man barely knew him, but he did this to Zoro. "Hey about joining your crew, I might consider it." "REALLY? LET'S GO!" Zoro was startled by Luffy’s celebration and then said, "I’ll join your crew if I’m the vice-captain." "Why wouldn't you be?! You’re almost as powerful as me!" Zoro smiled. Everyone smiled. They were now a crew of 4. "I think a pirate is more fitting for me!" Koby exclaimed. They were now a crew of 4 members. It was a lifelong dream of Luffy, achieved, but it was only the beginning.
Luffy still had a long way to go to reclaim what was his father’s. "Let’s set sail!" Nami exclaimed. Luffy was confused. "We just got here! WHY?" "The Marines are probably looking for us; we should probably go. Luffy come on," Koby said, intruding on the conversation. "Ok," Luffy said in defeat. Then when they set sail, Zoro said, "THIS IS THE BOAT!? This looks like crap," "I have a boat that’s better; it can house all of us." "Well, ok, let's go!"
Before they went to the dock, a clown-like person came up to them and said, "WHOSE HAT IS THAT," The clown screamed. "This is my mentor’s hat, Shanks!" As Luffy was talking to the clown, Zoro read the clown’s name on his hat: Buggy. "Your name is Buggy; what the hell kind of name is that!" Luffy immediately started giggling. "Shut up, what kind of name is Luffy?" "How do you know my name?" Luffy was confused.
"This axeman asked where Luffy was and said he was a boy with a straw hat," Buggy then detached his arm and punched Luffy, hard. Luffy then sprawled into action and started trying to punch Buggy. He started to detach himself, and Luffy was confused. How did this man detach himself; is it a... "How do you like my devil fruit; it’s confusing you; I can detach myself at will," Buggy smiled.
Then Nami thought of a plan. "Guys put his body parts into the treasure box so we could stun him," Suddenly, Luffy put some of his body into a chest and he screamed, "STOP IT, THAT'S NOT NICE!?!" After they trapped most of him in the chest, he asked Buggy, "How do you know Shanks?" "He was with me in Roger’s crew," "You were on my dad’s CREW!?" "Well yes, DAD!?" Zoro and Buggy were shocked. "HE’S YOUR DAD?!" Zoro exclaimed. "Why didn’t you tell me?" Zoro said angrily. "I was going too, and how did someone like you join Roger’s crew?" "They found me and Shanks on his ship one day; I was in the crew until it was disbanded.
It was fun while it lasted," Buggy smiled. "Well, see you!" "Wait, what about my limbs!" Buggy yelled. "Oops, here," Luffy then opened the chest, and Buggy was shaking in excitement.
"Let's go to the next island; we need a better one anyway," Luffy exclaimed as they went to the ship. "So Zoro, why are you a swordsman?" "Are you saying that in a bad way?" Zoro said, confused. "My dad did it; it runs in the family," Zoro said seriously. "Are you guys ready? Let's GO!" Smiles ran across their faces as they got on the ship and unanchored the ship. "Guys, did you know the island we’re going to has ships that we could use for our voyage?" Nami smiled.
"THAT'S PERFECT!" They all talked as they went to the island. The ship was good but still a bit small. There was a mini gym to work out and a small corner kitchen. There was one study room that Nami occupied. Luffy walked around as he practiced his techniques, and two days later they arrived. "I’m so hungry, I NEED FOOD!" Luffy roared. "Chill, we’ll find some food; just stay put as we find a safe spot to anchor." As they anchored they laughed at the fun they had during this adventure and the people they met. Suddenly they came to a halt as their boat started to sink...
