Top ten things to do in Shibuya

There are so many places in the world that people are interested in and one of those places is the Lovely and beautiful city of Tokyo, and one of the most encouraged and known parts of Tokyo is the wonderful place of Shibuya. Shibuya is the pinnacle of modern Tokyo and is known for being the heart and soul of the city. There are so many things to do in this special and wondrous part of Tokyo but for now, here are 10 things to do in Shibuya City, Tokyo, Japan.


1. Shibuya Crossing isn’t any ordinary crossing as it’s the busiest pedestrian intersection in the world. But don’t let that scare you from not going because the crossing is a relaxing way of walking despite it having 2,500 people walking on the crossing per day. The reason for the huge amount is related to work hours and that the crossing is filled to the brim with people that have jobs.

2. Want to see the beautiful skies of Tokyo but you want to find an tall place to take pictures, well Shibuya Sky is a magnificent observation tower at the top of the Shibuya Scramble Square Skyscraper. Besides taking photos of the sky, there is also a hammock there for people who want to rest after tiring themselves out. So if you are looking for a place to rest from all of the stress, then Shibuya Sky is the right place for you!


3. Hachiko Square is the most visited Square in Japan. What’s special about the place is the sad and unfortunate story of a dog named Hachiko. He would wait for his owner at the bus station everyday to see him but one day his owner didn’t appear, the dog waited and waited for nine long years but his owner didn’t come. It was sad because his owner died, so after nine years, the dog unfortunately passed. The place where he would wait for his owner has become an important spot for visitors to see the statue of the cute and lovable dog.

4. If you want to explore a long street filled with all types of Fashion, Food, and do other types of shopping, then Takeshita Street is the place to go. Filled to the brim with all types of different things to eat and try. It’s known for its famous noodle shops and even has a museum of a type of beer which was responsible for the town’s name which was Yebisu Beer. It's 400 meters long! With lots of things to do, it can satisfy lots of people when visiting Shibuya!


5. Another great place to explore in Shibuya is the huge shopping mall Miyashita Mall. There are lots of things to explore and find in the mall that would satisfy a lot of people and it’s a 3-story building that is jammed packed with restaurants and stores for everyone. It even includes a whole hotel for travelers which is called the Sequence Miyashita Park. But the biggest and best part of it is the fact that it includes several places related to sports such as the skate park and a sand covered court for Volleyball.


6. The Meiji Jingu/Shrine is a popular Shinto Shrine that is mystifying and was named after a Japanese emperor that was known for creating many rules that were a huge important part of the Modern Japanese System and in commemoration, a shrine was made with his name on it. The Shrine shows and tells the history of Emperor Meiji himself and it is a sight to behold.

7. Yoyogi Park is considered as a must see for people when visiting Shibuya, but why? Well it is the biggest city park in Tokyo. You’ll find tons of people relaxing and chilling at the park as it’s a common place for families to have all sorts of picnics and to meet up and have some interesting conversations. The park is an astounding 133 acres long which is as big as a huge high school!


8. Shibuya Center Gai is another great place to go for restaurants and nightclubs. What's special about it is the special neon lights that await you at the entrance. Just like Takeshita Street, it also has some really special things to do there, checkout some of the small record shops there or maybe indulge yourself in some inexpensive fast-fashion stores. It's the perfect place for trendy fashion people, people who want to try several types of cuisines there, and people who are also interested in arcade and video games!


9. Ota Memorial Museum Of Art is a three story art museum that is filled with different thematic pieces of art that is sure to interest any person who has a fascination for art. For people who don't speak Japanese, there are English descriptions for what the art is and what they mean. There are a total of 12,000 woodblock prints (a technique for creating art) and for a few days at the end of each month, the museum temporarily closes to change and add some different woodblock prints.


10. Yebisu Beer Museum is a unique type of museum as it's focused of well brewery and wine. In the Museum you get to see the history of the beer and how it's made. Although the museum is small, you'll find lot's of things that will interest you there. If you are also thirsty for some Yebisu Beer, there is a whole vending machine that will give you some Yebisu Beer.
